Spring Break usually sparks images of road trips, beach days, or mountain getaways. For me, though, this year looked a little different—I stayed home. At first, the thought of missing out on a big adventure felt disappointing. But as the week unfolded, I found that staying put didn’t mean missing out at all. Instead, it gave me the space to slow down, reconnect, and appreciate the small adventures that were right in front of me.

Local Adventures & Moving My Body

With no rush to pack or plan a trip, I had time to enjoy my own backyard—literally and figuratively. I went on bike rides with friends, feeling the spring air and the rhythm of pedaling without a destination in mind. Group runs replaced solo workouts, turning exercise into something social and energizing. These moments reminded me that adventure isn’t always about distance; sometimes, it’s about the company you keep and the effort you put in.

Growing, in More Ways Than One

Staying home meant finally starting seeds indoors, a small but meaningful ritual that signals the changing seasons. Watching tiny sprouts emerge from the soil felt like a reminder that growth happens gradually, whether in a garden or in life. Yard work followed—tasks that had been neglected for too long—but there was satisfaction in clearing, planting, and making space for new things to thrive.

Reconnecting with People (and My Business)

Without travel on the schedule, I had time to catch up with friends I hadn’t seen in months. Long conversations, unhurried coffee dates, and the simple act of being present in familiar spaces felt like a different kind of adventure—one rooted in connection rather than movement.

I also poured time into my business, something that often gets pushed aside when life feels too busy. Instead of feeling like I needed to “get away,” I focused on moving forward—creating, planning, and building something meaningful. Staying put gave me the mental space to think clearly, and that’s a kind of progress that no trip could have given me.

A Different Kind of Reward

Perhaps the biggest lesson of this Spring Break at home was realizing that adventure isn’t the only thing that fills my cup. There’s value in slowing down, in nurturing what’s already here, and in appreciating the people and places that make home feel like home.

Would I love to take a big trip next year? Of course. But I also know that staying put has its own rewards—ones that can’t always be measured by miles traveled.
